Abstract

A method based on particle motion is proposed to analyze the flowage and deposition of particulate material. Only the equation of motion for one particle, the conservation of momentum and the law of elastic collision are used to formulate the computer program for the flowage and deposition of particulate material. A numerical experiment was carried out with a computer to simulate flowage and deposition of particulate material. The flowage and deposition test on glass beads was also done on the channel, and the behavior of the beads being recorded by video cameras. The data were processed and the results compared with the numerical results.
