Abstract
@We report briefly the method to use the database, SAlGAIKS, which has
been developed from l982. SAIGAIKS includes the data related to natural
disasters such as, research papers, investigative reports observed data
and photographs taken at disaster struck areas, hazard maps, observed
fundamental data for disaster prevention research in our institute, aerial
photographs, articles on natural disasters in newspapers, statistical
data published from government and municipal offices. SAIGAIKS provides
you an on-line service through the inter-university information distributing
system (N1-system). FAIRS, a software being used to search the database,
offers you an interactive capability|allowing you to ask a question about
commands, get answer from the computer, and pose your next response. This
database which has right now about more than 10,000 entries is regularly
updated to provide access to the most recently published information about
natural disaster.
