山口県北部における1997年台風9号の豪雨特性と農業災害
Characteristics of Heavy Rainfall and Agricultural Disasters by Typhoon 9709 in Northern Part of Yamaguchi Prefecture

Abstract
Meteorological disaster was caused by heavy rainfall during typhoon 9709 in northern part of Yamaguchi Prefecture and western part of Shimane Prefecture. At Fukuga area in Abu town, the amount of precipitation from July 26 to 28 was 922 mm, and amount of precipitation on July 27 was 606 mm. The farmland was flooded because of the flood of the Ohi and the Zoumeki rivers by increased water. A farm pond collapsed four places at Mutsumi village. At Aso and Era farm ponds, rice plants were buried by earth and sand because of bank collapse. The loss of money in the agriculture of Yamaguchi Prefecture due to heavy rainfall with typhoon 9709 exceeded 6.6 billion yen.
