Abstract
The progress of health among people suffering due to Hanshin earthquake disaster were continuously surveyed by means of BMRC type questionnaire (first in half year, second in one and a half years, third in two and a half years and fourth in three and a half years). The results were obtained.
Firstly, the rate of the people who complained about health worsening after the earthquake reached 25% of those who replied to the questionnaire(First survey). This rate in females was larger by 5% compared to that in males in most surveys. This rate decreased to 20% in the second, to 15% in the third and 12% in the fourth survey.
Secondly, the rates of people who complained of their health worsening due to new symptoms after the earthquake decreased rapidly in proportion to the period elapsed after the earthquake (Second:10.8→8.0→4.7%). But, the rate of people who complained that their health worsened due to the previous symptoms before the earthquake did not decrease (Second:6.8→5.8→5.2%) .
Thirdly, the questionnaire items corresponding to the complaint rate shown above were Q.9 ("Wheezing' during common cold, 21.6%→9.9%) and Q.13 (blocked nose and running nose, 48.4%→29.0%).
