Study on Including Earthquake Disaster Countermeasures in Local Plan for Disaster Prevention: From City and Ward Questionnaire Survey

Abstract

The Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake had a major influence on planning for earthquake disaster countermeasures in Japan. The Basic Plan for Disaster Prevention and The Disaster Countermeasures Basic Act were both revised as a result of the disaster and new earthquake disaster countermeasures in local plans for disaster prevention are being implemented in various cities. In this report, the present status of and problems facing earthquake disaster countermeasures for cities are studied by means of a questionnaire survey, and outstanding problems that require solution are indicated.
