Abstract
The tropical depression passed through western part of Kanto district from evening in August 13th, 1999 over the 14th evening, and it suffered the record-breaking heavy rainfall. The heavy rainfall was analyzed by the collection of the amount of rainfall data of the precipitation stations in the Tanzawa area of Kanagawa Prefecture. In A one station of the north slopes in the Tanzawa Mountains, integrated of precipitation of 531 mm was observed, the integrated of precipitation of 400 mm was observed over east and west 20 km, north and south 10 km. Short time heavy rainfall was observed even in the Kurokura River basin of the south slope in the Tanzawa Mountains, and the water level of the Kurokura River rapidly rose. The tent was constructed by camper in the middle sandbar, since the appeal of the refuge was not met. It was isolated in risen middle sandbar, and 18 persons were run in the muddy stream.
